FLAGPOLE AND MORNING GLORY

A bluebird sits

on top of our rusted flagpole.

Blue wings, blue sky,

a morning glory at the base

of the pole.  In fall, bluebirds gone,

our day begins by counting blooms.

When colder days kill the vine,

we don’t remove withered blossoms.

They retain a faint trace of blue.
